How to Hatch Artemia Eggs — Artemia was a type of tiny shrimp that are very small, about 200-300 microns in size. Famous among fisheries and agriculture as feed for small fish, it also needs tools for hatching. For those of you who want to make a simple hatching tool, there is no need to worry because there are guidelines in my previous post.

The tool can be made at home with tools and materials that are easily obtainable and simple. If you are looking for a tool on the market, it will usually get it at a price that is arguably quite expensive compared to making it yourself.

Well, how do you hatch eggs? This is how you do it.

How to incubate Artemia Eggs

Installing artemia incubator bottles

The artemia incubator is the same as in the previous post.

After the incubator is installed, cover tightly the flow of air bubbles like the picture above so that next time you enter the water does not immediately come out.

One tablespoon of coarse salt

One tablespoon of coarse salt for 500 ml of water.

Add saltfish / coarse salt with a dose of 1 tablespoon for 500 ml of water, the salt is widely sold in the market.

Put water into the incubator

Add water and install aerator hose.

Put 500 ml of water into the incubator bottle, then attach the aquarium hose to the aerator with maximum tightness. But be careful, so strong air bubbles are pushed even more vibrations make the incubator vibrate, reduce the water just a little so that the tool does not spill. The aim is to release the hard part of the egg.

Mix well

Mix well and wait for 4 minutes.

If the salt in the incubator bottle has melted thoroughly, close the bubble hose or turn off the aerator. Then add the artemia according to your needs and mix thoroughly, then wait for about 4 minutes to remove the layers.

The process of hatching artemia eggs

Highlight with a 25 watt bulb.

The process of hatching of artemia eggs takes place with temperature regulation of 29-32 degrees Celcius. After that turn on the aerator again at maximum speed, then highlight it with a 25 watt light bulb for a minimum of 24 hours so the eggs can hatch.

After 24 hours the hatching process

The shell will separate and float to the surface of the water.

After 24 hours, give aeration then look at the incubator bottle, the water is usually a bit opaque but not too thick. The density depends on whether the artemia is put into the bottle of the incubator before.

The next step is to reduce the bubble until the air has completely stopped. Then wait about 5-10 minutes for the artemia and the hatched eggshells to separate.

The shell will be on the surface of the water. Artemia that hatches will usually move, can be seen by shining a lamp into the bottle of the hatching tool it will be seen clearly. Because the size is micron, it will look like walking dots.

Step by step above looks very exciting because now you have successfully incubated an artemia egg. The method above can also separate artemia from eggs that have not hatched, and the eggshell.

For its use, according to your needs will it be given directly to the puppies/seeds of your favorite fish or will they be raised first to live for the next 1-2 weeks? It depends on you.

If you want to give it directly to the fish/seedlings, you can take/suck it through a small pivet / straw then gave it to the fish/seedlings directly.

Hopefully this tutorial on how to hatch artemia eggs can be useful for those who need it. Thanks.
